What if God's Answer is Unorthodox?

2 Kings 3:16-17

"Thus says the Lord: 'Make this valley full of ditches...You shall not see wind, nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you...may drink."

God could've simply caused it to rain. Problem solved. But, he didn't. Rather, God's answer was to be accomplished by faithful obedience in a people who were willing to "make this valley full of ditches". And as the people responded in obedient action, God saved three armies that were perishing of thirst.

We often pray for our finances to be better. We pray for our relationships. We pray for our churches to grow. We pray for our nation to turn back to the Lord. We pray for our family. And, pray we should.

Yet, we should pray with a willingness to dig ditches. God's way of providing His answer, in His time and way, could seem unorthodox to us. Yet, in the end, we will find that it is the best way after all.
