"Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things." ~ Isaiah 40:26
Horizontal, worldly vision is in vogue. There are plenty of distrations in the world around us. Our circumstances often weigh us down and distract us from lifting up our eyes. We can be occupied by any number of things: sports (guilty...hand raised), finances, work, relationships, and just general business. The list is a long one.
However, real clarity is found in looking up. When we lift up our eyes, our perspective changes. Suddenly, the things of the world do not seem as important. We live by faith and not by sight. We make the eternal priority. More specifically, looking up requires us to marvel at He who "created these things." It creates a heavenly opportunity for a time-out from our busy schedules.
Have you been distracted/burdened with the rigorous pace of horizontal living? Be careful, this kind of living can be dangerous. Let us make it a priority in our lives to always behold the Lord and consider His mighty works. It will give us the perspective that we need to focus on what matters most in a world of distractions.
